Spring has revealed itself along one of our favourite garden paths. We’ve found ourselves here before, on a crisp fall afternoon. This natural wonderland has captivated us and left me wondering just how many have discovered its delight. We’ve yet to see a passerby (in the flesh), however, the girls claim we may not be alone on this pleasant day. A soft mist hovering above the pond reveals more than meets the eye to adventure-seeking girls who relish in a world of their own making.

As we trod along, hoping to make an acquaintance, there is little doubt we’ll go unnoticed in the playful designs from What Mother Made, a handmade children’s wear brand hailing from East London. The collection is the harmony of contemporary styling with traditional underpinnings. An environmentally conscious brand, they practice a zero-waste policy in the manufacturing process by offering made to order pieces using locally sourced fabrics. Their studio is open to visitors, allowing children to observe where their clothes are made. I’m deeply moved by their commitments to transparency and consumer awareness while allowing children to make these impactful connections.

With imaginations in full bloom, our journey along this lovely garden path has concluded with rumbling tummies and a couple of walking-stick souvenirs. We’re sure to return but selfishly hope this special spot is only known to us.
