Between sisters is a bond that only they can understand. I’m on the periphery of this relationship, perfectly content watching the pureness of their love and the inevitable rivalries that wouldn’t exist without it. Hearts are the suit of choice this time of year and our hands have been busy making them. While these Croatian Licitar hearts may look delicious, they’re a labour of love meant only for display. Precious red tokens of sentiment meant to celebrate those in our lives we keep dear.

These Valentine’s Day inspired looks from Sayings Kids, give me all the heart eyes. An online boutique with an inspiring message to share, “be great, be bold, and be you,” they’re home to some of our favourite brands, that encourage us to share that inner beauty and confidence with the world. Romantics will rejoice with the gorgeous selection of fairy tale worthy pieces from Nellystella and Moon Paris. In a heartbeat, the girls are Valentine’s Day ready in red and pink velvet hues.

We’ve come upon that time of year when adventures of whimsy are replaced by routines, churning each day into the next. Fewer hours together make smaller moments sweeter. We focus on the present and dream of the unknown in the early morning haze of a medieval castle. It isn’t clear we’re so close to home as we enter this primitive fortress. Wearing French brand, Bobine, our daydreams invite us to foreign shores and timeless Parisian style.

Effortless styles and fine tailoring define this lovely brand with a 30-year history in the heart of Paris. Created by two mothers who share a deep love for fashion, Bobine produces highly sought after collections for their Parisian boutiques and retailers worldwide. Simple silhouettes in harmony with elegant fabrics sourced mainly from Lyon, shroud us in understated luxury and prompt us to dream.

Spring has revealed itself along one of our favourite garden paths. We’ve found ourselves here before, on a crisp fall afternoon. This natural wonderland has captivated us and left me wondering just how many have discovered its delight. We’ve yet to see a passerby (in the flesh), however, the girls claim we may not be alone on this pleasant day. A soft mist hovering above the pond reveals more than meets the eye to adventure-seeking girls who relish in a world of their own making.

As we trod along, hoping to make an acquaintance, there is little doubt we’ll go unnoticed in the playful designs from What Mother Made, a handmade children’s wear brand hailing from East London. The collection is the harmony of contemporary styling with traditional underpinnings. An environmentally conscious brand, they practice a zero-waste policy in the manufacturing process by offering made to order pieces using locally sourced fabrics. Their studio is open to visitors, allowing children to observe where their clothes are made. I’m deeply moved by their commitments to transparency and consumer awareness while allowing children to make these impactful connections.

With imaginations in full bloom, our journey along this lovely garden path has concluded with rumbling tummies and a couple of walking-stick souvenirs. We’re sure to return but selfishly hope this special spot is only known to us.
